Musnad al-Humaydi
أَحَادِيثُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
Hadiths of Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)
Warning of punishment for reciting a verse and not stopping the oppressor
Hadith Number: 3
حدثنا مروان بن معاوية الفزاري ، حدثنا إسماعيل بن ابي خالد ، عن قيس بن ابي حازم ، ان ابا بكر الصديق قام فحمد الله واثنى عليه، ثم قال: يا ايها الناس! إنكم تقرءون هذه الآية يايها الذين آمنوا عليكم انفسكم لا يضركم من ضل إذا اهتديتم سورة المائدة آية 105 , وإنا سمعنا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول: " الناس إذا راوا الظالم فلم ياخذوا على يديه، يوشك ان يعمهم الله بعقاب" .
Qais bin Abu Hazim narrates: Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up, praised and glorified Allah, and then said: O people! You recite this verse. «يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْفُسَكُمْ لا يَضُرُّكُمْ مَنْ ضَلَّ إِذَا اهْتَدَيْتُمْ» "O you who believe! Take care of your own selves. If you are guided, no one who goes astray can harm you." [5-المائدة:105] (Sayyiduna Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, said:) We heard Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "When people see an oppressor and do not restrain him by his hand, soon Allah’s punishment will descend upon all of them."
