Ali bin Abdur Rahman Mu'awiyah narrates: I performed prayer beside Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both). (During the prayer) I was turning over pebbles. When I completed the prayer, he said: Do not turn over pebbles (during the prayer), because turning over pebbles is the work of Satan. Do as I have seen the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) do. I asked: What did you see the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) do? So he placed his right hand on his right knee. Then Imam Humaydi (may Allah have mercy on him) joined his three fingers together and raised his index finger, and he placed his left hand on his left knee and spread it out.
