Hadith Number 740
Hadith Number: 740
Sayyiduna Bara’ bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite this when going to sleep (the narrator is in doubt, perhaps these are the words): The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed that this should be recited when going to sleep. (The narrator is in doubt, perhaps these are the words): The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed me to recite these words when going to sleep. This doubt is from the narrator named Sufyan as to which of these words are correct. These are the words:“O Allah! I turn my face towards You, I entrust myself to You, I hand over my affairs to You, I rely on You with my back. Out of desire for You and fear of You. There is no refuge and no escape from You except with You. I believe in Your Book which You have revealed, and in Your Prophet whom You have sent.”So people said to him (i.e., to Sufyan): In the narration, the words are:“I believe in Your Messenger whom You have sent.”But he did not accept this and said: These are the words:“I believe in Your Prophet.”
