It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ubaid bin Sabaaq (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said on a Friday: "This is the day which Allah Almighty has called the day of Eid, so perform ghusl, and whoever has perfume, there is no harm in applying perfume on this day, and make the use of miswak obligatory upon yourselves."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If it would not be difficult for my Ummah, I would have made the use of the tooth-stick obligatory upon them."

Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) said that if it had not been difficult for the Ummah of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), he (peace be upon him) would have commanded them to use the miswak with every ablution.
