Chapter on actions in the solar eclipse prayer
Hadith Number: 444
It is narrated from Umm al-Mu'mineen Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), the sun was eclipsed, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) led the people in prayer. He stood for a long time, then bowed (ruku‘) for a long time, then stood again for a long time but a little less than the first standing, then bowed for a long time but a little less than the first bowing, then raised his head from ruku‘, then prostrated (sajdah). In the second rak‘ah, he did the same. When he finished the prayer, the sun had become bright again. Then he delivered a sermon and praised and glorified Allah, the Majestic. Then he said:“The sun and the moon are two signs among the signs of the Lord. They do not eclipse for the death or life of anyone. So when you see the eclipse, supplicate to Allah, say takbeer, and give charity.”Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“O Ummah of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), by Allah! No one is more protective than Allah, the Majestic, regarding His servant or His maidservant committing adultery. O Ummah of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), if you knew what I know, you would surely laugh little and weep much.”

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, that when the sun was eclipsed, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, performed the prayer and the people prayed with him. Then he, peace and blessings be upon him, stood for a long time, as long as it takes to recite Surah Al-Baqarah. Then he bowed for a long bowing, then raised his head, then stood for a long time but a little less than the first standing. Then he bowed for a long bowing, but a little less than the first bowing. Then he prostrated. Then he, peace and blessings be upon him, stood for a long time but a little less than the first standing. Then he bowed for a long bowing but less than the first bowing. Then he raised his head, then stood for a long time but a little less than the first standing. Then he bowed for a long bowing but a little less than the first bowing. Then he prostrated, and when he, peace and blessings be upon him, finished the prayer, the sun had become bright. Then he, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The sun and the moon are two signs among the signs of Allah. They do not eclipse because of anyone's life or death. When you see this, then remember Allah." The companions said: O Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him! We saw you in the prayer, you moved forward as if to take something, then you moved back. So he, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "I saw Paradise, so I wanted to take a bunch (of its fruit) from it. If I had taken it, you would have eaten from it as long as the world remained. And I saw Hell in such a dreadful and terrifying state that I have never seen anything like it before, nor had I seen it. And I saw that most of those in Hell were women." The companions said: Why, O Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him? He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Because of the ingratitude of women, they were cast into Hell." The companions said: Do they disbelieve in Allah? He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "And they are ungrateful, meaning they are ungrateful to their husbands, and they forget favors. If you do good to a woman all your life, then she experiences any displeasure, she says to her husband: I have never received any good from you."

It is narrated from Umm al-Mu'mineen Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that a Jewish woman came to her asking for something, and she said: May Allah protect you from the punishment of the grave. So I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): Will people be punished in their graves? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I seek refuge with Allah from that punishment." Then one day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mounted his ride, and the sun was eclipsed, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) returned from behind the chambers, then stood and began to pray, and the people stood behind him (peace and blessings be upon him). Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) stood for a long time, then bowed for a long time, then raised his head and stood for a long time, but a little less than the first standing, then bowed for a long time, but a little less than the first bowing, then raised his head and prostrated. Then he stood for a long time, but a little less than the standing of the first rak'ah, then bowed a long bowing, but a little less than the first bowing, then raised his head and stood for a long time, but a little less than the first standing, then bowed for a long time, but a little less than the first bowing, then raised his head and prostrated. Then, after finishing the prayer, he spoke whatever Allah willed, then he instructed them to seek refuge with Allah from the punishment of the grave.
