It is narrated from Hazrat Ata bin Yasar that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When a servant becomes ill, Allah Almighty sends two angels to him and says: 'Keep watching what he says to those who come to visit him.' If he praises and glorifies Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, before them, then both angels ascend to Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, and although He knows best, He asks, and then says: 'If I cause My servant to die, I will admit him to Paradise, and if I grant him recovery, I will grant him more flesh and blood than before, and I will forgive his sins.'"

It is narrated from Umm al-Mu'mineen Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No grief or affliction befalls a believer except that his (minor) sins are forgiven, even if a thorn pricks him, his sins are forgiven." Yazid said: I do not remember which word Urwah used from «قُصَّ» and «كُفِّرَ» .

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whomever Allah, the Glorious and Exalted, intends good for, He afflicts him with hardships."

It is narrated from Yahya bin Saeed that a man died during the time of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. A person said: "Wow! What a good death, there was no illness or anything." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "What is he saying? How do you know that if Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, had afflicted him with some illness, He would have forgiven his sins?"
