Fear the Fire even with half a date
Hadith Number: 678
678 - اخبرنا ابو محمد عبد الرحمن بن عمر التجيبي، ثنا ابن الاعرابي، ثنا سعدان هو ابن نصر المخرمي، ثنا وكيع، ثنا محمد بن سليم المكي، عن ابن ابي مليكة , عن عائشة، قالت: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: «اتقوا النار ولو بشق تمرة»
Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Protect yourselves from (the) Fire, even if it be with half a date."

Hadith Number: 679
679 - انا ابو محمد التجيبي، انا ابو علي الحسن بن يوسف بن مليح الطرائفي، نا بحر بن نصر، نا عبد الله بن وهب، نا مالك، عن نافع، عن ابن عمر، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: «اتقوا النار ولو بشق تمرة» هذا حديث عزيز الوجود من حديث مالك، انا ابو محمد التجيبي ان ابا محمد عبد الغني بن سعيد الحافظ كتبه عنه
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Protect yourselves from the Fire, even if it be with half a date." This hadith is rare among the narrations of Imam Malik. Abu Muhammad Tajibi informed us that indeed Abu Muhammad Abdul Ghani bin Sa'id al-Hafiz wrote it from him.

680 - انا ابو سعد احمد بن محمد الماليني نا محمد بن خلف بن حيان الشافعي، ببغداد، نا ابو بكر احمد بن محمد بن ابي حامد نا احمد بن عبد الله يعني ابن القاسم التيمي ابو بكر الوراق الملقب بغريف قال: سمعت ابا حفص الفلاس، يقول: نا ابو بحر البكراوي، قال: كنا عند شعبة فجاء سائل فقال شعبة: تصدقوا، فلم يتصدقوا، فقال: حدثنا ابو إسحاق عن عبد الله بن معقل، عن عدي بن حاتم ان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: «اتقوا النار ولو بشق تمرة» . فلم يعط السائل شيئا، فقال: حدثنا الاعمشي، عن خيثمة، عن عدي بن حاتم ان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: «اتقوا النار ولو بشق تمرة» فلم يعطوا شيئا. فقال: حدثنا محل بن خليفة قال: سمعت عدي بن حاتم يقول: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: «اتقوا النار ولو بشق تمرة» قال: فلم يعطوا شيئا. فقال: والله لا احدثنكم اليوم بشيء، قوموا دكان الثعاوبة
Abu Bahr Bakrawi (may Allah have mercy on him) says: We were with Imam Shu’bah when a beggar came, so Shu’bah said: Give charity. But the people did not give charity, so he said: Abu Ishaq narrated to us from Abdullah bin Ma’qil from ‘Adi bin Hatim that indeed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Save yourselves from the Fire, even if it is with half a date.”(Even after hearing the hadith) nothing was given to the beggar, so Imam Shu’bah said: Al-A’mash narrated to us from Khaythamah from ‘Adi bin Hatim that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Save yourselves from the Fire, even if it is with half a date.”Even this time, the people did not give anything (to the beggar), so Imam Shu’bah said: Muhall bin Khalifah narrated to us, he said: I heard ‘Adi bin Hatim say that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Save yourselves from the Fire, even if it is with half a date.”The narrator says that even then the people did not give anything, so Imam Shu’bah said: By Allah! Today I will keep narrating some hadith to you, you miserly shopkeepers! Get up and leave from here.

681 - انا الحسن بن خلف الواسطي المقرئ، نا ابو الحسن علي بن محمد بن احمد بن كيسان النحوي، نا يوسف بن يعقوب، نا حفص بن عمر، نا شعبة، عن ابي إسحاق، عن عبد الله بن معقل , عن عدي بن حاتم، قال: سمعت، رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول، وذكره
Sayyiduna ‘Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say... and he narrated this hadith.

682 - انا ابو الحسن علي بن موسى السمسار بدمشق، انا ابو زيد، محمد بن احمد المروزي انا محمد بن يوسف الفربري، انا محمد بن إسماعيل البخاري، نا سليمان بن حرب، نا شعبة، عن ابي إسحاق، قال: سمعت عبد الله بن معقل، قال: سمعت عدي بن حاتم، قال: سمعت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول: «اتقوا النار ولو بشق تمرة»
Sayyiduna ‘Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say:“Save yourselves from the Fire, even if it is with half a date.”

683 - وانا ابو طاهر، محمد بن الحسين بن سعدون الموصلي نا ابو الحسن علي بن عمر الدارقطني، نا عبد الله بن محمد البغوي، نا محمد بن جعفر الوركاني، نا ايوب بن جابر، عن سماك بن حرب، عن النعمان بن بشير، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: «اتقوا النار ولو بشق تمرة» قال الدارقطني: قال لنا ابن منيع ولا اعلم حدث بهذا الحديث احد عن سماك بن حرب غير ايوب بن جابر وهو اخو محمد بن جابر السحيمي، ويقال: انه اوثق من اخيه محمد بن جابر
Sayyiduna Nu’man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with both of them) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Protect yourselves from the Fire, even if it be with a piece of date.”Imam Dar Qutni said: Ibn Munabbih told us: I do not know of anyone who narrated this hadith from Simak bin Harb except Ayyub bin Jabir. And he (Ayyub) is the brother of Muhammad bin Jabir Sahimi; it is said that he is more reliable than his brother Muhammad bin Jabir.

Sayyiduna ‘Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)... and he narrated this hadith.
