Sayyiduna Bara’ bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the bowing (ruku‘) of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), his raising his head after bowing (and standing), his prostration, and his sitting between the two prostrations were approximately equal.

Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that one night I prayed with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), then he narrated the rest of the hadith and stated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited «‏‏‏‏سورۃ البقره» ‏‏‏‏ and «‏‏‏‏سورۃ النساء» ‏‏‏‏ in one rak'ah. Then when he bowed (ruku‘), his ruku‘ was as long as his standing (qiyam). Then when he prostrated (sajdah), his sajdah was as long as his ruku‘.

Sayyiduna Bara’ bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that it could not be determined which of the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) standing, bowing, prostration, or sitting was longer. Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that by“afdal”(best) is meant“atwal”(the longest).
