جماع أَبْوَابِ صَلَاةِ التَّطَوُّعِ قَبْلَ الصَّلَوَاتِ الْمَكْتُوبَاتِ وَبَعْدَهُنَّ
Chapters on Voluntary Prayers before and after Obligatory Prayers
(527) بَابُ ذِكْرِ الْخَبَرِ الْمُفَسِّرِ لِأَمْرِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِأَنْ تُصَلَّى الرَّكْعَتَانِ بَعْدَ الْمَغْرِبِ فِي الْبُيُوتِ
The chapter explaining the Prophet's command to pray the two units after Maghrib at home
Hadith Number: Q1202
والدليل على ان الامر بذلك امر استحباب لا امر إيجاب؛ إذ صلاة النوافل في البيوت افضل من النوافل في المساجد.
And the explanation of the evidence that this command of the Prophet (peace be upon him) was for recommendation, not obligation, because offering voluntary prayers at home is better than offering them in the mosques.

Hadith Number: 1202
حدثنا بندار ، حدثنا عبد الرحمن يعني ابن مهدي ، نا معاوية بن صالح ، حدثنا العلاء بن الحارث ، عن حرام ، عن عمه عبد الله بن سعد، ح وحدثنا عبد الله بن هاشم ، نا عبد الرحمن ، عن معاوية ، ح وحدثنا بحر بن نصر الخولاني ، نا عبد الله بن وهب ، نا معاوية بن صالح ، عن العلاء بن الحارث ، عن حرام بن حكيم ، عن عمه عبد الله بن سعد ، قال: سالت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم عن الصلاة في بيتي، والصلاة في المسجد، فقال:" قد ترى، ما اقرب بيتي من المسجد، ولان اصلي في بيتي احب من ان اصلي في المسجد إلا المكتوبة" . هذا حديث بندار
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about performing prayer in my house and praying in the mosque. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“You see how close my house is to the mosque, but except for the obligatory prayers, I prefer to pray in my house rather than in the mosque.”This is the narration of Janab Bundar.
