(15) بَابُ الزَّجْرِ عَنْ سَفَرِ الْمَرْأَةِ مَعَ غَيْرِ ذِي مَحْرَمٍ وَغَيْرِ زَوْجِهَا،
15 Subchapter: Prohibition of a woman traveling without a husband or mahram

بذكر خبر في التاقيت غير دال توقيته على ان ما كان اقل من ذلك التاقيت من السفر مباح سفر المراة مع غير محرم وغير زوجها، إذا كان سفرها اقل من ثلاث
Mentioning a report regarding the specification of time, which does not indicate by its timing that what is less than that specified time of travel is permissible for a woman to travel without a mahram and without her husband, if her travel is less than three (days).

حدثنا سلم بن جنادة ، حدثنا ابو معاوية . ح وحدثنا سلم ، ايضا حدثنا وكيع . ح وحدثنا عبد الله بن سعيد الاشج ، حدثنا ابن نمير . ح وحدثنا علي بن سعيد بن مسروق الكندي ، حدثنا يحيى يعني ابن ابي زائدة ، كلهم عن الاعمش ، وقال ابو معاوية: عام الحج، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " لا يحل لامراة تؤمن بالله واليوم الآخر تسافر سفرا ثلاثة ايام فصاعدا، إلا ومعها ذو محرم ابوها، او ابنها، او اخوها، او زوجها، او ذو محرم منها" ، هذا لفظ حديث ابي معاوية، وفي حديث الآخرين: لا تسافر المراة سفرا ثلاثة ايام فصاعدا، غير ان في حديث ابن ابي زائدة: يكون ثلاثة ايام.
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is not lawful for a woman who believes in Allah and the Last Day to travel for three days or more without a mahram, that is, without her father, son, brother, husband, or any other mahram relative." This narration is from Abu Mu'awiyah. In the narration of the other two narrators, the words are that no woman should travel for a day or more. In the narration of Ibn Abi Zaidah, three days are mentioned.

حدثنا علي بن خشرم ، اخبرنا عيسى ، عن الاعمش مثل حديث ابي زائدة، حدثنا الاشج ، حدثنا ابو خالد ، حدثنا الاعمش ، فذكر الحديث نحوه.
The Imam has narrated, through his teacher Ali bin Khushram’s chain of transmission, similar to the aforementioned narration.

حدثنا بندار ، حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد ، حدثنا عبيد الله بن عمر ، اخبرني نافع ، عن ابن عمر ،" ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم نهى ان تسافر المراة ثلاثا إلا ومعها ذو محرم" ، قال ابو بكر: قد خرجت هذه اللفظة في الاخبار في كتاب الكبير، وخبر ابن عمر مختصر غير متقص لم يذكر فيه الزوج، وخبر ابي سعيد متقص ذكر ذوات المحارم والزوج جميعا
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) forbade a Muslim woman from undertaking a journey of three days without a mahram. Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I have mentioned the wording of this hadith in Kitab al-Kabir, and this narration of Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) is brief, not detailed, because it does not mention the husband, whereas the narration of Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) is detailed, in which the mention of mahram relatives and the husband is present.
