Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that I performed two rak‘ahs with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) before and after Zuhr, two rak‘ahs at home after Maghrib, and two rak‘ahs at home after ‘Isha. He says: Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with them both) informed me: When Fajr would dawn and the muezzin would call the adhan for the Fajr prayer, at that time the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform two rak‘ahs, and this was the time when no one would come to him. Ayyub says: I think he used to perform these two rak‘ahs lightly. In the same way, he used to perform two rak‘ahs at home after Jumu‘ah.

Abdullah bin Shaqiq (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I asked Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) about the voluntary prayers of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). She said: He used to pray four rak'ahs in my house before Dhuhr, then he would go out and lead the people in prayer, then return to my house and perform two rak'ahs.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The prayers of the day and night are in sets of two rak‘ahs.

Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray eleven rak'ahs at night, which included one witr. When he finished the prayer, he would lie down on his right side, until when the muezzin came (to announce the prayer), he would perform two short rak'ahs.
