Sayyiduna Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whatever intoxicates in large quantities, I forbid you from (even) a small quantity of it.

Sayyiduna Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I had forbidden you from visiting graves, so now do visit them, because Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) has been granted permission to visit his mother's (grave); this reminds one of the Hereafter. I had forbidden you from keeping the meat of sacrifice for more than three days; my intention was that the wealthy people should create ease for those who do not have (the means for sacrifice). Now you may eat and store it as well. And I had forbidden you from using certain utensils; a utensil does not make anything lawful or unlawful. Every intoxicating thing is unlawful.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade making nabidh (fermented drink) by mixing ghadir (half-ripe dates) with (fully) ripe dates, as well as by mixing dried grapes (raisins) and dates together. He also wrote to the people of Jurash instructing them not to make nabidh by mixing dried grapes and dates together.

Ibn Abi Layla and Abu Farwah both narrate from Abdullah bin Ukeem (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) asked for water, so the village chief brought water in a silver vessel. He (Hudhayfah) threw it away, then apologized to those people and said: I have been forbidden from this. I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Do not drink from gold and silver vessels, nor wear silk or brocade garments, for these are for them (the disbelievers) in this world and for us in the Hereafter.

Sayyiduna Abu Sa‘id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade drinking water while standing.

Abu Bazri Yazid bin Atard (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I asked Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) about drinking while standing, so he (may Allah be pleased with him) said: During the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him), we used to drink while standing and eat while walking.

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that his mother reported: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to her and drank water while standing from the mouth of a hanging water-skin. She says: I cut off its mouth while standing (and kept it safe).
