The Book of Prayers
باب اسْتِحْبَابِ الْقَوْلِ مِثْلَ قَوْلِ الْمُؤَذِّنِ لِمَنْ سَمِعَهُ ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ يَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ لَهُ الْوَسِيلَةَ:
Chapter: It Is Recommended For The One Who Hears The Mu'adhdhin To Repeat His Words, Then To Send Salat Upon The Prophet (saws) And Ask Allah To Grant Him Al-Wasilah

حدثني يحيى بن يحيى ، قال: قرات على مالك ، عن ابن شهاب ، عن عطاء بن يزيد الليثي ، عن ابي سعيد الخدري : " ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال: إذا سمعتم النداء، فقولوا مثل ما يقول المؤذن ".
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri reported: When you hear the call (to prayer), repeat what the Mu'adhdhin pronounces.

حدثنا محمد بن سلمة المرادي ، حدثنا عبد الله بن وهب ، عن حيوة ، وسعيد بن ابي ايوب وغيرهما، عن كعب بن علقمة ، عن عبد الرحمن بن جبير ، عن عبد الله بن عمرو بن العاص : " انه سمع النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، يقول: إذا سمعتم المؤذن، فقولوا مثل ما يقول، ثم صلوا علي، فإنه من صلى علي صلاة، صلى الله عليه بها عشرا، ثم سلوا الله لي الوسيلة، فإنها منزلة في الجنة، لا تنبغي إلا لعبد من عباد الله، وارجو ان اكون انا هو، فمن سال لي الوسيلة، حلت له الشفاعة ".
'Abdullah bin 'Amr (RA) bin al-'As reported Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) as saying: When you hear the Mu'adhdhin, repeat what he says, then invoke a blessing on me, for everyone who invokes a blessing on me will receive ten blessings from Allah; then beg from Allah al-Wasila for me, which is a rank in Paradise fitting for only one of Allah's servants, and I hope that I may be that one. If anyone who asks that I be given the Wasila, he will be assured of my intercession.

حدثني إسحاق بن منصور اخبرنا ابو جعفر محمد بن جهضم الثقفي ، حدثنا إسماعيل بن جعفر ، عن عمارة بن غزية ، عن خبيب بن عبد الرحمن بن إساف ، عن حفص بن عاصم بن عمر بن الخطاب ، عن ابيه ، عن جده عمر بن الخطاب ، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " إذا قال المؤذن: الله اكبر، الله اكبر، فقال احدكم: الله اكبر، الله اكبر، ثم قال: اشهد ان لا إله إلا الله، قال: اشهد ان لا إله إلا الله، ثم قال: اشهد ان محمدا رسول الله، قال: اشهد ان محمدا رسول الله، ثم قال: حي على الصلاة، قال: لا حول ولا قوة إلا بالله، ثم قال: حي على الفلاح، قال: لا حول ولا قوة إلا بالله، ثم قال: الله اكبر، الله اكبر، قال: الله اكبر، الله اكبر، ثم قال: لا إله إلا الله، قال: لا إله إلا الله، من قلبه دخل الجنة ".
'Umar bin al-Khattab reported: The Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) said: When the Mu'adhdhin says: Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, and one of you should make this response: Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest; (and when the Mu'adhdhin) says: I testify that there is no god but Allah, one should respond: I testify that there is no god but Allah, and when he says: I testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, one should make a response: I testify that Muhammad is Allah's Messenger. When he (the Mu'adhdhin) says: Come to prayer, one should make a response: There is no might and no power except with Allah. When he (the Mu'adhdhin) says: Come to salvation, one should respond: There is no might and no power except with Allah, and when he (the Mu'adhdhin) says: Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, then make a response: Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. When he (the Mu'adhdhin) says: There is no god but Allah, and he who makes a response from the heart: There is no god but Allah, he will enter Paradise.

حدثنا محمد بن رمح ، اخبرنا الليث ، عن الحكيم بن عبد الله بن قيس القرشي . ح وحدثنا قتيبة بن سعيد ، حدثنا ليث ، عن الحكيم بن عبد الله ، عن عامر بن سعد بن ابي وقاص ، عن سعد بن ابي وقاص ، عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، انه قال: " من قال حين يسمع المؤذن: اشهد ان لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له، وان محمدا عبده ورسوله، رضيت بالله ربا، وبمحمد رسولا، وبالإسلام دينا، غفر له ذنبه "، قال ابن رمح في روايته: من قال حين يسمع المؤذن: وانا اشهد، ولم يذكر قتيبة قوله: وانا.
Sa'd bin Abu Waqqas reported: The Messenger of Allah ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) said: If anyone says on hearing the Mu'adhdhin: I testify that there is no god but Allah alone. Who has no partner, and that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger, (and that) I am satisfied with Allah as my Lord, with Muhammad as Messenger. and with Islam as din (code of life), his sins would be forgiven. In the narration transmitted by Ibn Rumh the words are: "He who said on hearing the Mu'adhdhin and verity I testify." ' Qutaiba has not mentioned his words: "And I."
