٢٠٢١٨ - حدثنا ابو بكر قال: نا هشيم عن مغيرة عن إبراهيم انه كان يراه جائزا.
Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) considered divorce given in the state of shirk to be valid.

٢٠٢١٩ - حدثنا ابو بكر قال: نا هشيم عن حجاج عن عطاء.
Hazrat Ata (may Allah have mercy on him) and Hazrat Shabi (may Allah have mercy on him) considered divorce given in the state of polytheism to be valid.

20220 - (W) (1) From Ibn Salim, from al-Sha'bi, that both of them used to consider (divorce) (2) of shirk permissible.

٢٠٢٢١ - حدثنا ابو بكر قال: نا هشيم عن يونس عن الحسن انه كان لا يراه جائزا.
Hazrat Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) did not consider a divorce given in the state of polytheism to be valid.

٢٠٢٢٢ - حدثنا ابو بكر قال: نا حفص عن ابن (جريج) (١) قال: قلت لعطاء ابلغك ان رسول الله ﷺ ترك اهل الجاهلية على ما كانوا عليه من نكاح او طلاق؟ قال: نعم (٢).

Hazrat Ibn Jurayj (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I asked Hazrat Ata whether this has reached you regarding the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he maintained for the people of ignorance the rules of marriage and divorce that were prevalent among them? He replied, yes, it is so.

٢٠٢٢٣ - حدثنا ابو بكر قال: نا وكيع عن شعبة قال: سالت الحكم وحمادا فقالا: جائز، يعني: طلاق الشرك.
Hazrat Sha’bah, may Allah have mercy on him, says that I asked Hazrat Hakam and Hazrat Hammad about the divorce given in the state of polytheism, so they said that it is valid.

٢٠٢٢٤ - حدثنا ابو بكر قال، نا وكيع عن سفيان عن فراس عن عامر قال: لم يزده الإسلام إلا شدة.
Hazrat Aamir (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Islam has increased in strictness.

٢٠٢٢٥ - حدثنا ابو بكر قال: نا وكيع عن (ابن) (١) ابي عروبة عن قتادة ان رجلا طلق امراته في الجاهلية تطليقتين ثم اسلم، فطلقها في الإسلام تطليقة (فسال) (٢) عمر عبد الرحمن بن عوف فقال: طلاقه في الشرك ليس بشيء (٣).

(٣) منقطع؛ قتادة لم يدرك عمر.
Hazrat Qatadah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that a man gave his wife two divorces during the period of ignorance. Then he accepted Islam and gave his wife one divorce in Islam. Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Auf (may Allah be pleased with him) about this matter, so he replied that the divorce given in the state of polytheism has no validity.
