٢٤٣٦٧ - حدثنا ابو بكر قال: حدثنا ابن علية عن يونس عن (الحسن) (١) انه وإن يقول: إذا اختلفت (الملل) (٢) (لا تجوز) (٣) شهادة بعضهم على بعض.

Hasan used to say that when there is a difference in religion, then the testimony of some is not accepted in favor of others.

٢٤٣٦٨ - حدثنا ابو بكر قال: حدثنا ابن إدريس عن ليث عن عطاء قال: لا تجوز شهادة اليهودي على النصراني، ولا النصراني على (اليهودي) (١)، ولا ملة على غير ملتها إلا المسلمين.

Hazrat Ata says that the testimony of a Jew against a Christian and of a Christian against a Jew is not accepted, and apart from Muslims, the testimony of one follower of a religion against the followers of another religion is not accepted.

٢٤٣٦٩ - حدثنا ابو بكر قال: حدثنا وكيع قال: حدثنا سفيان عن داود عن الشعبي قال: لا تجوز شهادة ملة على ملة إلا المسلمين.
Hazrat Sha'bi says that the testimony of a follower of one religion over the followers of another religion is not acceptable except among Muslims.

Hazrat Zuhri and Hazrat Hammad state that the testimony of some among the People of the Book is not accepted for others among them.

٢٤٣٧١ - [حدثنا ابو بكر قال: حدثنا حفص عن اشعث عن الحكم وحماد عن إبراهيم قال: لا تجوز شهادة اهل الكتاب بعضهم على بعض] (١).

٢٤٣٧٢ - حدثنا ابو بكر قال: حدثنا حفص عن اشعث، عن الحكم وحماد، عن إبراهيم (و) (١) الشعبي (و) (٢) الحسن (قالوا) (٣): لا تجوز شهادة اهل ملة إلا على اهل ملتها: اليهودي على اليهودي، والنصراني على النصراني.

Ibrahim, Hazrat Sha’bi, and Hasan state that the testimony of a follower of one religion is not accepted against a follower of another religion. The testimony of a Jew is accepted for a Jew, and the testimony of a Christian is accepted for a Christian.

٢٤٣٧٣ - حدثنا ابو بكر قال: حدثنا يزيد بن هارون عن جويبر عن الضحاك انه كان لا يقبل شهادة ملة على غيرهم.
Hazrat Dahhak would not accept the testimony of a person of one religion against a person of another religion.

٢٤٣٧٤ - حدثنا ابو بكر قال: حدثنا وكيع عن شعبة قال: سالت الحكم عن شهادة اليهودي على النصراني (و) (١) النصراني على اليهودي، فقال الحكم: لا تجوز شهادة اهل دين على (اهل) (٢) دين.

Hazrat Sha’bah says that I asked Hazrat Hakam about the ruling regarding the testimony of a Jew over a Christian and a Christian over a Jew. Hazrat Hakam replied: The testimony of one follower of a religion over another follower of a different religion is not accepted.

٢٤٣٧٥ - حدثنا ابو بكر قال: حدثنا وكيع قال: حدثنا عمر بن راشد عن يحيى ابن ابي كثير عن ابي سلمة بن عبد الرحمن قال: لا تجوز شهادة ملة على ملة إلا المسلمين.
Hazrat Abu Salamah bin Abdur Rahman says that the testimony of people of one religion is not accepted over people of another religion, except for Muslims. Hazrat Waki’ says that Hazrat Ibn Abi Layla would not accept the testimony of a Jew over a Christian, nor of a Christian over a Jew.

24376 - Waki‘ said: Ibn Abi Layla would not permit the testimony of a Jew against a Christian, nor a Christian against a Jew.
