Hazrat Umm Abdullah bint Khalid bin Ma'dan narrates from her father that he did not see any harm in drinking antidote (theriac).

It is narrated from Hazrat Safwan bin Amr al-Saksaki that when Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz assigned the responsibility to Walid bin Hisham Qureshi and Amr bin Qais Sukuni to send a group for the summer campaign, he also provided them with antidote from the treasury and instructed them that whoever comes to you asking for the antidote, you should give him this antidote.

It is narrated from Hazrat Khalid Hadhdha, he says that Abu Qilabah told me about antidote. He said, some people go out wearing wooden sandals and they have something in their hands as well. Abu Qilabah also mentioned that thing. So these people hunt snakes and whatever is on their heads and tails, they clean it so that any blood, etc., is collected. Then they put the snakes in a pot and cook them, thus this becomes the best antidote.

Hazrat Khalid narrates about Ibn Sirin that I mentioned this to him, so he said: Is it not correct that every predatory animal with fangs has been prohibited? While these are not only predatory with fangs but also venomous.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Sirin, who says that Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) gave the ruling regarding theriac, so it was drunk. And if he had known what it contained, he would not have given that ruling.
