Hazrat Wa'il bin Amr narrates that in the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), a woman was forced to commit adultery, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) waived the punishment for that woman.

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that several slave women from among the government’s slave women were brought to Hazrat Umar, whom some of the government’s slaves had forced into adultery. So he flogged those slaves and did not flog the slave women.

Hazrat Nafi' narrates that a man invited a household and then forced one of the women among them into adultery. This matter was presented before Hazrat Abu Bakr, so he had that man flogged and exiled, and he did not flog the woman.

Hazrat Hajjaj narrates that an Abyssinian forced one of his women into adultery, so Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz enforced the prescribed punishment on him. And he gave that woman authority over her own ownership.

Hazrat Ash'ath narrates that Hazrat Zuhri, Hazrat Sha'bi, and Hasan Basri—all these esteemed personalities—have stated: The prescribed punishment (hadd) will not be carried out on a woman who was compelled to commit adultery.

Hazrat Ash'ath narrates that Hasan Basri and Zuhri said: The prescribed punishment (hadd) will not be carried out on a woman who was compelled to commit adultery.

Hazrat Abu Hurrah narrates that Hasan Basri said: A slave forced a woman into adultery and had intercourse with her. Then both of them came to Hasan Basri with their dispute, at a time when he was serving as a judge. So he imposed the prescribed punishment (hadd) on the slave and ruled in favor of the woman against the slave.

Hazrat Sha’bah states that I asked Hazrat Hakam and Hazrat Hammad regarding a slave who had taken the virginity of a slave-girl. Both of them said: The hadd (legal punishment) will be applied to him, and mahr (dowry) will not be obligatory upon him.
