Regarding Placing Signs for Ashar (Sections) in the Qur'an

٣٢٢٤٤ - حدثنا ابو بكر بن عياش عن ابي حصين عن يحيى عن مسروق عن عبد الله انه كره (التعشير) (١) في المصحف (٢).

(٢) صحيح.
Hazrat Masruq narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) considered it disliked to mark the divisions of tens (ashar) in the Mushaf.

٣٢٢٤٥ - حدثنا ابو خالد الاحمر عن حجاج عن عطاء انه كان يكره (التعشير) (١) في المصحف، وان يكتب فيه (شيء) (٢) من غيره.

Hazrat Hajjaj says that Hazrat Ata considered it undesirable to mark the divisions (Ashar) in the Mushaf. And also that anything other than the Qur'an be written in it.

٣٢٢٤٦ - حدثنا (ابو) (١) خالد عن حجاج عن حماد عن إبراهيم مثله.

Hazrat Hammad has also narrated a hadith from Ibrahim similar to the previous ones.

٣٢٢٤٧ - حدثنا المحاربي عن ليث عن مجاهد انه كان يكره ان يكتب (تعشير) (١) او تفصيل، ويقول: سورة البقرة، ويقول: السورة التي تذكر فيها البقرة.

Hazrat Laith says that Hazrat Mujahid considered it undesirable to mark the divisions of tens in the Mushaf or to write any details of anything, and he also considered it undesirable to say, "Surah Al-Baqarah," and would instead say: "The Surah in which the mention of the cow is found."

Hazrat Laith states that Hazrat Mujahid disliked marking the signs of tenths in the Mushaf.

٣٢٢٤٩ - (١) حدثنا عبدة عن الزبرقان قال: قلت لابي رزين: إن عندي مصحفا اريد ان اختمه بالذهب، واكتب عند اول سورة آية كذا وكذا، ⦗٤٨٥⦘ (فقال) (٢) ابو رزين: لا (تزيدن) (٣) فيه شيئا من امر الدنيا قل ولا كثر.

(٣) في [أ، هـ]: (يزيدن).
Hazrat Zabraqan narrates that I said to Hazrat Abu Razin: I have a Mushaf and I wish to seal it with gold and write at the beginning of each Surah: "This Surah has so many verses." Hazrat Abu Razin replied: Do not add to the Qur'an things from the world, neither little nor much.

٣٢٢٥٠ - حدثنا يزيد بن هارون عن هشام عن محمد انه كان يكره الفواتح والعواشر التي فيها قاف وكاف.
Hazrat Hisham says that Muhammad considered those signs in the Holy Qur'an to be disliked which contained the letters Qaf and Kaf.

٣٢٢٥١ - [حدثنا وكيع عن سفيان عن مغيرة عن إبراهيم انه كره التعشير في المصحف] (١).

Hazrat Mughira states that Ibrahim considered it undesirable to mark the verses in the Mushaf.

٣٢٢٥٢ - حدثنا وكيع عن سفيان عن مغيرة عن إبراهيم انه كره (النقط) (١) وخاتمة سورة كذا وكذا.

Hazrat Mughira narrates that Ibrahim considered it undesirable to place dots in the Mushaf and to mark the end of a Surah in such and such a manner.

٣٢٢٥٣ - حدثنا ابو خالد عن حجاج عن شيخ عن عبد الله انه راى خطا في (مصحف) (١) (فحكه) (٢) وقال: لا تخلطوا فيه غيره (٣).

(٣) مجهول، لإبهام الراوي عن عبد اللَّه.
Hazrat Hajjaj narrates from his teacher that Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (may Allah be pleased with him) saw a special mark in a Mushaf, so he erased it and said: Do not mix anything other than it in the Qur'an.
