Ala bin Musayyib narrates from a man that the disciples asked Jesus son of Mary (peace be upon him), "What do you eat?" He replied, "Barley bread." They asked, "What do you wear?" He replied, "Wool." They asked, "What is your bedding?" He replied, "The ground." They said, "All this is very difficult." He replied, "You cannot attain the kingdom of the heavens and the earth until you refrain from using these things despite their pleasure," or he said, "despite their desire."

Hazrat Abu Husain narrates from Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair regarding the interpretation of Allah’s command {إنَّکُمْ، وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللہِ حَصَبُ جَہَنَّمَ أَنْتُمْ لَہَا وَارِدُونَ }, he said that he mentioned Hazrat Isa (Jesus) (peace be upon him) and Hazrat Uzair, that they too were worshipped. Thus, after this, the verse was revealed: (إِنَّ الَّذِينَ سَبَقَتْ لَهُم مِّنَّا الْحُسْنَى أُولَئِكَ عَنْهَا مُبْعَدُونَ). He said that by this is meant Isa ibn Maryam (Jesus, son of Mary), peace be upon him.
