Hazrat Dhirar bin Murrah says that I met Hazrat Dahhak in Khorasan, at that time I was wearing old clothes. Hazrat Dahhak said to me that Hazrat Abu Idrees says: "A pure heart in dirty clothes is better than a dirty heart in clean clothes."

Hazrat Abu Idrees used to supplicate: O Allah! Make my sight a means of reflection, my silence a means of contemplation, and my speech a means of remembrance.

Hazrat Abu Muslim Khaulani says that people were once like a leaf without any thorn. Today, they are like a thorn without any leaf. If you abuse them, they will abuse you profusely, and if you mention their faults, they will mention your faults abundantly. And if you leave them alone, they will not leave you alone.

Hazrat Ibn Shihab says that one day I was sitting in the gathering of Hazrat Abu Idris Khaulani, and he was narrating an incident. He said, "Shall I not tell you about the person whose food was the purest among all people?" When the people looked towards him, he said, "The food of Hazrat Yahya bin Zakariya was the purest among all people. He used to eat in solitude because he did not like to share his life with people."

Hazrat Abu Muslim Khawlani says that I have not done any such deed except for two actions about which I care if anyone sees me: one is fulfilling my need with my wife and the other is going to the toilet.

Hazrat Abu Adrees says that Allah Almighty does not expose the faults of a servant in whose heart there is even an atom's weight of goodness.

Hazrat Abu Muslim Khawlani says that four things are not acceptable in four things: the wealth of an orphan, deceit, betrayal, and theft; Hajj, Umrah, Jihad, and one thing is not acceptable in one thing. (The narrator did not mention the name of the fourth thing.)
