Obligation of Witr

٣٩١٢٦ - حدثنا ابو الاحوص عن سماك عن جابر (١) بن سمرة قال: كانت للنبي ﷺ خطبتان يجلس بينهما يقرا القرآن ويذكر الناس (٢).

(٢) حسن؛ سماك صدوق، أخرجه مسلم (٨٦٢)، وأحمد (٢٠٨١٣).
It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir bin Samurah that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had two sermons; he (peace and blessings be upon him) would sit in them, recite the Qur'an, and remind the people.

٣٩١٢٧ - حدثنا حاتم بن إسماعيل عن جعفر عن ابيه قال: كان النبي ﷺ يخطب قائما، ثم يجلس، ثم يقوم فيخطب خطبتين (١).
ريفرينس و تحكيم الحدیث:
(١) مرسل؛ أبو جعفر ليس صحابيًا.
Hazrat Ja'far narrates from his father that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to deliver the sermon while standing, then he (peace and blessings be upon him) would sit down, then he (peace and blessings be upon him) would stand up again; thus, he (peace and blessings be upon him) would deliver two sermons.

٣٩١٢٨ - حدثنا ابو خالد الاحمر عن ابن ابي ذئب عن صالح مولى (التوامة) (١) قال: استخلف مروان ابا هريرة على المدينة، فكان يصلي بنا (يوم) (٢) الجمعة فيخطب خطبتين ويجلس جلستين (٣).

(١) في [جـ]: (التومة).
(٢) سقط من: [أ، ب].
(٣) حسن؛ صالح صدوق، وروى عنه ابن أبي ذئب قبل اختلاطه.
Hazrat Salih Mawla al-Tuwamah narrates that when Marwan appointed Hazrat Abu Hurairah as the governor of Madinah, he used to lead us in the Friday prayer, deliver two sermons, and sit down twice. And (Imam) Abu Hanifah's opinion has been mentioned that: the Imam will sit only once.
