Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed a prostration (sajdah) in Surah Sad. The narrator states: Only Hafs has transmitted this.

Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite this in the prostration of recitation: "My face has prostrated before the One Who created it, and granted it hearing and sight by His help and power."

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Noble Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sayyiduna Dawud (peace be upon him) performed prostration here due to repentance, and we perform prostration out of gratitude. The narrator states: This refers to the prostration mentioned in Surah Sad.

This narration is also transmitted with another chain, which is about the prostration in Surah Sad. Prophet Dawud (peace be upon him) performed this prostration as an act of repentance, and we perform this prostration as an act of gratitude.

Saeed bin Jubair narrates: He heard Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) stating that he said: I heard Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reciting Surah Sad on the pulpit. He descended from the pulpit, performed the prostration of recitation, and then ascended the pulpit again.

Sa’ib bin Yazid narrates: Sayyiduna Uthman Ghani (may Allah be pleased with him) recited Surah Sad on the pulpit, then he descended and performed the prostration of recitation.

Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: One day the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was delivering a sermon to us, and he recited Surah Sad. When he reached the verse of prostration, he descended from the pulpit and performed prostration, and we also performed prostration with him. Then he recited this Surah again, and when he reached the verse of prostration, we were ready to perform prostration. When he noticed us, he said: "This is an incident of a prophet's repentance, and I see that you are ready to perform prostration." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) descended from the pulpit, performed prostration, and we also performed prostration.

Sayyiduna Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught him that there are fifteen places in the Noble Qur'an where prostration (sajdah) is to be performed; three of them are in the Mufassal surahs, and there are two prostrations in Surah al-Hajj.

Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Are there two prostrations in Surah Al-Hajj?" He replied, "Yes, and if you do not perform them, then do not recite this Surah."

Abdullah bin Thalabah narrates: I saw Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) perform two prostrations in Surah Al-Hajj. The narrator states: I asked, "Was it in the Fajr (morning) prayer?" He replied, "Yes, in the Fajr prayer."
