بَابُ نَهْيِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَقُومَ الْإِمَامُ فَوْقَ شَيْءٍ وَالنَّاسُ خَلْفَهُ
Chapter on the Prophet's prohibition for the imam to stand on something while people are behind him

حدثنا محمد بن احمد بن اسد الهروي ، حدثنا الحسين بن نصر المؤدب ، ثنا سلام بن سليمان ، ثنا عمر ، عن محمد بن واسع ، عن سعيد بن جبير ، عن ابن عمر ، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم:" اجعلوا ائمتكم خياركم، فإنهم وفدكم فيما بينكم وبين الله عز وجل" . هذا عندي هو عمر بن يزيد قاضي المدائن.
Sayyiduna Abu Mas'ud Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade that the imam stand upon something while the people are behind him, the narrator says: that is, while they are on the ground below him.

حدثنا احمد بن محمد بن زياد ، ثنا محمد بن غالب ، ثنا زكريا بن يحيى الواسطي زحمويه، ثنا زياد بن عبد الله بن الطفيل ، عن الاعمش ، عن إبراهيم ، عن همام ، عن ابي مسعود الانصاري ، قال:" نهى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ان يقوم الإمام فوق شيء والناس خلفه"، يعني اسفل منه . لم يروه غير زياد البكاء، ولم يروه غير همام فيما نعلم.
Sayyiduna Abu Marthad Ghanawi (may Allah be pleased with him), who had the honor of participating in the Battle of Badr, narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you want your prayer to be accepted, then let your best people lead your prayer, because they are representatives between you and your Lord." The chain of this narration is not established; its narrator Abdullah bin Musa is weak.
