This narration is also transmitted from the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) with another chain of transmission.

Sha'bi narrates: Ziyad bin Abu Sufyan said to his companion: "Do you know what decision Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) gave regarding the paternal and maternal aunts?" The person replied: "No, I do not!" So Ziyad said: "I know best what Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) decided about this; he placed the maternal aunt in the position of the mother and the paternal aunt in the position of the father."
