Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Just as the Qur'an abrogates, so too do our hadith abrogate one another."

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I swear by my father regarding this matter, he told me that sometimes the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) would say something, and after some time, he would abrogate it. This was exactly like how one part of the Qur'an abrogates another.

Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Beware of those who follow their own opinions, for they will be the enemies of the Sunnah. They will not remember the hadiths and will issue rulings based on their own opinions. They will go astray and will lead others astray as well."

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The Children of Israel were destroyed when the children of captive women began to introduce new things among them; these people began to present their own opinions and thus they fell into misguidance."

Sayyidah Umaymah bint Ruqayqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates a similar hadith regarding the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), however, in this narration, the words are: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I do not shake hands with women, and I speak with a woman in the same manner as I would speak with a hundred women."

The maternal aunt of the noble daughter of the Prophet (peace be upon him), Lady Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), Lady Umaymah bint Ruqayyah narrates: We pledged allegiance to the noble hand of the Prophet (peace be upon him), after which he narrated the hadith as previously mentioned.

Lady Umaymah bint Ruqayqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: We came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to pledge allegiance. We said: "O Messenger of Allah! We pledge allegiance to you on your blessed hand that we will not associate anyone with Allah, we will not steal, we will not commit adultery, we will not kill our children, we will not fabricate and falsely accuse anyone, and we will not disobey you in any good matter." So the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "To the extent of your ability and strength." We said: "Allah and His Messenger are more merciful to us than our own selves. O Messenger of Allah! Please extend your blessed hand so that we may pledge allegiance to you." The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "I do not shake hands with women. I speak to a hundred women in the same way as I speak to one woman (the narrator is unsure about one word here)."

Bakkar bin Abdul Aziz narrates from his father, from his grandfather: Whenever the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) received good news, he would prostrate before Allah Almighty (i.e., perform the prostration of gratitude).

Sayyiduna Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us from fighting on behalf of the polytheists, but we may fight on behalf of the people under protection (Ahl al-Dhimma).
