Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "I received one hundred shares in Khaybar, and I have never received any wealth more beloved to me than this. I wish to give it in charity." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Keep the original land with you and give its produce in the way of Allah."

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He had become the owner of one hundred shares in Khaybar. He also bought some more land and combined it. Then he came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "I have acquired such land that I have never acquired before. I wish to attain closeness to Allah Almighty through it (i.e., to give it in charity)." So the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Keep the original land with you and give its produce in the way of Allah."

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and thereafter, the narration continues as previously mentioned.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! I have acquired a piece of land such as I have never acquired before." (The narrator says:) Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) had received one hundred shares. He says: I bought one hundred shares in Khaybar from its owners (i.e., I bought that much land), and I wish to attain closeness to Allah through it. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Withhold the original land and give its produce in the way of Allah."

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates the statement of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that he asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) about the land in Shamgh, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Keep the land with you and give its fruits in the way of Allah."

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "O Messenger of Allah! I have acquired land in Shamgh, and I dislike that it should be sold after me." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Withhold its ownership and give its produce in the way of Allah."

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) acquired a piece of land in Khaybar. He presented himself before the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "I have acquired a piece of land in Khaybar, and I have never received any land that is more valuable to me than this one." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you wish, keep the original land with you and give its produce as charity." The narrator states: So Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) kept the original land with himself and gave its produce as charity, in such a way that the land could neither be sold, nor gifted, nor inherited. Its produce would be distributed among the poor, close relatives, guests, warriors in the path of Allah, and travelers. Whoever is its caretaker will not be sinful if he eats from it in a reasonable manner or feeds a friend from it, as long as he is not accumulating wealth from it.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he had received one hundred shares in Khaybar, he bought land with it and gathered them together, then he came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and said: "I have obtained such a thing that I have never obtained anything like it before, and I wish to attain nearness to Allah through it." So the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Keep the original land with you and give its produce in the way of Allah."
