Abu Saba’ says: I bought a she-camel from the house of Wathila bin Asqa’ (may Allah be pleased with him). When I took it outside, Sayyiduna Wathila (may Allah be pleased with him) ran after me, dragging his cloak, and reached me and said:“O servant of Allah! Have you bought this she-camel?”I said:“Yes.”He said:“Did the one you bought it from inform you of its defect?”I said:“What defect does it have? Apparently, it is fat and looks healthy.”He said:“Well, tell me, did you buy it for travel or for its meat?”I said:“I want to ride it and perform Hajj on it.”He said:“There is a hole in its foot.”The owner of the she-camel said:“May Allah set you right, what do you want from me now? You are spoiling it for me!”He (Wathila) said:“I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: ‘It is not lawful for anyone to sell a defective thing except that he makes its defect clear. It is not lawful for a person who knows (of a defect) except that he explains it.’”

Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: He is not from among us who deceives.
