كِتَابُ السَّلَمِ كِتَابُ الْقَرْضِ وَالدَّيْنِ
Book of Salam, Loans, and Debts
بِابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي فَضْلِ الْقَرْضِ وَالتَّيْسِيرِ عَلَى الْمُعْسِر
Chapter: What has been reported regarding the virtue of loans and easing for the debtor

عن ابن عباس رضي الله عنهما قال قدم النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم المدينة وهم يسلفون في التمر السنتين والثلاث فقال من سلف فليسلف في كيل معلوم ووزن معلوم إلى اجل معلوم
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): When the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived in Madinah Munawwarah, the people used to engage in forward sales (salam) of dates for two or three years. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever wishes to do a forward sale should do so with a specified measure, a determined weight, and for a fixed period.
