Malik bin Umair says: I was sitting with Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), when Sa’sa’ah bin Sawhan came. He greeted (with salam), then stood up and said: O Commander of the Faithful! Forbid us from that which the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade you from.
Syedna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when the delegation of Abdul Qais came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade them from using pitchers, vessels prepared by scraping date-palm trunks, tar-coated vessels, and those water skins whose mouths had been cut off. Also, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Make nabidh in your water skin, tie its strap, and drink good, sweet nabidh. A man said: O Messenger of Allah! Grant me a little permission regarding them. He (peace and blessings be upon him) spread out his hand and indicated to him: If I give you a little permission, then this practice will increase.
