The Fourth Virtue Regarding Uthman's Vision and His Informing of the Day of His Killing, His Readiness for It, and His Patience, may Allah be pleased with him
Hadith Number: 12277
It is narrated from Sayyida Na’ila (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of Sayyiduna ‘Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Commander of the Faithful, Sayyiduna ‘Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), dozed off and slept. Then when he woke up, he said:“These people will certainly kill me.”I said:“Insha’Allah, never; such a thing has not happened yet. Your subjects are only trying to frighten you.”He said:“I saw in a dream the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), and Sayyiduna ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). They said: ‘Tonight you will break your fast with us.’”

It is narrated from Abu Saeed Muslim that Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) freed twenty slaves and sent for trousers and wore them. Before this, he had never worn trousers either during the time of ignorance or after accepting Islam. Then he said: Last night I saw in a dream the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). They said to me: Be patient, tomorrow night you will break your fast with us. After this, he sent for a copy of the Holy Qur'an and opened it in front of himself, and then he was martyred in such a state that the Qur'an was open in front of him.
