كِتَابُ الْخُلَافَةِ وَالْإِمَارَةِ
The Book of Caliphate and Leadership
الفَضْلُ الْخَامِسُ فِيْمَا جَاءَ فِي تَارِيخِ قَتْلِهِ وَالصَّلَاةِ عَلَيْهِ وَدَفْنِهِ وَمُدَّةٍ خِلَافَتِهِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ
The Fifth Virtue Regarding What Has Been Narrated About the Date of His Killing, the Prayer Over Him, His Burial, and the Duration of His Caliphate, may Allah be pleased with him
Hadith Number: 12279
عن ابي العالية قال كنا بباب عثمان في عشر الاضحى
Abu Al-Aliyah says: On the tenth of Dhul-Hijjah, we were standing guard at the door of Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him).

حكم: اسناده صحيح
Hadith Number: 12280
وعن معتمر بن سليمان قال قال ابي حدثنا ابو عثمان ان عثمان قتل في اوسط ايام التشريق
It is narrated from Mu'tamir bin Sulaiman, he says: My father Sulaiman said that Abu Uthman told him that Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) was martyred on the middle day of Tashreeq.

Hadith Number: 12281
وعن قتادة ان عثمان قتل وهو ابن تسعين سنة او ثمان وثمانين
It is narrated from Qatadah that at the time of martyrdom, the age of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) was ninety or eighty-eight years.

Hadith Number: 12282
وعن قتادة قال صلى الزبير على عثمان ودفنه وكان اوصى إليه
It is narrated from Qatadah that Sayyiduna Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) led the funeral prayer of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) and he was the one who buried him. Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) himself had made a bequest in his favor.

Hadith Number: 12283
وعن إبراهيم بن عبد الله بن فروخ عن ابيه قال شهدت عثمان بن عفان دفن في ثيابه بدمائه ولم يغسل
It is narrated from Abdullah bin Farukh, he says: I was present at the funeral of Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him), he was buried in his blood-stained clothes and was not given a bath.

Hadith Number: 12284
وعن امية بن شبل وغيره قال ولي عثمان اثنتي عشرة وكانت الفتنة خمس سنين
It is narrated from Umayyah bin Shibl and others that Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) remained caliph for twelve years, and turmoil persisted for five years.

Hadith Number: 12285
عن ابي معشر قال وقتل عثمان رضي الله عنه يوم الجمعة لثمان عشرة مضت من ذي الحجة سنة خمس وثلاثين وكانت خلافته اثنتي عشرة سنة إلا اثني عشر يوما
It is narrated from Abu Ma’shar that Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) was martyred on the eighteenth of Dhu al-Hijjah, 35 AH, and his period of caliphate was twelve days less than twelve years.
