Narrated from Sayyiduna Nawwas bin Sam'an Kalabi (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned the Dajjal one morning. While mentioning him, sometimes you would lower your voice and sometimes raise it, until we began to think that he was present among the date palms nearby. We became so frightened of him that when we came to your presence, you noticed the terror on our faces. We asked you (peace and blessings be upon him) further about the Dajjal, saying: O Messenger of Allah! Today you mentioned the Dajjal and during this, you sometimes lowered and sometimes raised your voice, until we thought he was somewhere among the date palms. You (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I fear something for you more than the Dajjal, because if the Dajjal comes while I am among you, I will confront him on your behalf, and if he appears after me, then every person will have to defend himself, and Allah Almighty is my Khalifa (successor) over every Muslim (meaning Allah will protect every Muslim from the trial of the Dajjal). The Dajjal will be a young man, his hair will be curly, his eye will be like a protruding grape. He will appear in the areas between Syria and Iraq and will roam the earth right and left. O servants of Allah! Remain steadfast on your religion at that time. We asked: O Messenger of Allah! How long will he remain on the earth? You (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Forty days, but one day will be like a year, one day like a month, one day like a week, and the rest of the days will be like your normal days. We asked: O Messenger of Allah! The day that is like a year, will the prayers of one day suffice for us in it? You (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No, you must estimate the time and perform the prayers at intervals. We asked: O Messenger of Allah! How fast will he travel on the earth? You (peace and blessings be upon him) said: His speed will be like that of a cloud driven by the wind. Then you (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The Dajjal will pass by a tribe and invite them (to his lordship), the people will accept his word, then he will command the sky and it will rain, and the earth will produce vegetation. The animals grazing in the fields will return with larger humps, fuller udders, and bigger teats than before. Similarly, when he passes by another tribe and invites them (to believe in his lordship) and they reject his word, their wealth will leave them and follow the Dajjal, and those people will become destitute, with nothing left of their wealth. The Dajjal will pass by a ruined land and say to it, "Bring forth your treasures," and the treasures will come out and follow him like swarms of bees. You (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The Dajjal will strike a man with a sword and cut him in two, as quickly and suddenly as an arrow hits its target, then he will call the slain man to himself and he will come alive and approach him, his face shining with joy and contentment. The Dajjal will continue to mislead people with such tricks, until Allah Almighty will send down the Messiah, son of Maryam (peace be upon him). He will descend at a white minaret in the east of Damascus, wearing two garments dyed with saffron and wars, and placing his hands on the wings of angels. He will descend and pursue the Dajjal and kill him near the eastern gate of Lud. Meanwhile, Allah Almighty will reveal to Isa ibn Maryam (peace be upon him) that He is about to send forth such servants that you will not be able to fight them, so take the believing servants and go to Mount Tur. After that, Allah Almighty will bring forth Gog and Magog, whose condition and state is described in the Qur'an as follows: {مِنْ کُلِّ حَدَبٍ یَّنْسِلُوْنَ} (They will surge forth from every height). (Surah Al-Anbiya: 96) Then Isa (peace be upon him) and his companions will turn to Allah Almighty, and Allah will create a worm in the necks of Gog and Magog, causing them to die quickly. After that, Isa (peace be upon him) and his companions will descend from Mount Tur, and when they see that their corpses and stench are lying in every house on the earth, they and their companions will pray to Allah Almighty, and Allah will send birds with necks like Bactrian camels, which will carry their corpses and throw them wherever Allah wills. Yahya bin Jabir says: Ata bin Yazid Sakskasi narrated to me from Sayyiduna Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) or another companion that those birds will throw the corpses of Gog and Magog into Mahbal. I asked him where Mahbal is, and he replied: Where the sun rises from. After that, Allah Almighty will send rain, which will continue for forty days. No tent or house will be deprived of this rain. Allah Almighty will wash the earth thoroughly with this rain, and the earth will become as clean as a smooth stone. Then, by the command of Allah, the earth will be told to bring forth its fruits and its blessings. You (peace and blessings be upon him) said that in those days there will be so much blessing in fruits and other things that a large group of people will eat from one pomegranate, and they will also sit in the shade of its peel. There will be so much blessing in milk that the milk of one she-camel will suffice for large groups of people, the milk of one cow will suffice for a group, and the milk of one goat will suffice for a household. People will be living in such prosperity when Allah Almighty will send a fragrant wind from under the armpits of the Muslims, which will take the soul of every Muslim, and only the worst people will remain. They will be so shameless that they will openly commit intercourse with women like donkeys, and then the Hour will be established upon such people.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The appearance of the Dajjal will occur at a time when the religious condition will be weak and knowledge will have been taken away. He will roam the earth for forty days; one of those days will be like a year, one day like a month, one day like a week, and the remaining days will be like ordinary days. He will ride on a donkey such that the distance between its two ears will be forty cubits. He will say to the people: I am your Lord. He will be one-eyed, whereas your Lord is not one-eyed. Between his eyes will be written "Kafir" (disbeliever), i.e., K F R. Every literate and illiterate believer will be able to read this word. He will reach every water and every spring, that is, every place, except for Makkah Mukarramah and Madinah Munawwarah. Allah Almighty has made these two sacred precincts forbidden for him. At the gates of both, angels are appointed for protection. The Dajjal will have mountains of bread with him. All Muslims, except those who follow him, will be in severe poverty and hunger. He will have two rivers with him; I know both of them well. He will present one river as Paradise and the other as Hell, but the one he calls Paradise and whoever enters it, for him it will be Hell, and the one he calls Hell and whoever enters it, for him it will be Paradise. Allah Almighty will also send devils (jinn) with him; they will speak with people. He will have a great trial to test the people. He will command the sky, and people will see it rain. He will kill a man and then bring him back to life, and people will witness this scene. However, Allah Almighty will not give him the power to kill and revive anyone other than this man. While leading people astray, he will say: O people! Can anyone other than Allah do such things? In these circumstances, Muslims will run towards the mountain of Dukhan in Syria, but he will also go there and besiege them, and the siege will be severe. Those people will be afflicted with extreme poverty and hunger. Then Isa bin Maryam (peace be upon him) will descend from the sky and in the morning will call out: O people! What is the matter, why do you not come out to face the worst liar? At first, people will think it is the voice of a jinn, but when they go and see, it will be Isa bin Maryam (peace be upon him). Meanwhile, the congregation for prayer will be established, and it will be said to him: O Spirit of Allah! Please come forward and lead the prayer. But he will say: Your own Imam should come forward and lead the prayer. After performing the Fajr prayer, they will go out towards the Dajjal. When the false Dajjal sees him, he will begin to dissolve like salt dissolves in water. Then Isa (peace be upon him) will go towards him and kill him, and the situation for the Muslims will improve to such an extent that trees and stones will call out: O Spirit of Allah! Here is a Jew. Isa (peace be upon him) will catch and kill every single follower of the Dajjal.

Yaqub bin Asim says: I heard a man saying to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him):“Do you say that the Day of Judgment will be established by such-and-such time?”Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said:“I wish that I would not narrate anything to you people. I had only said that after some time you will witness a great calamity, and that has appeared in the form of the burning of the House of Allah (the Ka’bah).”After this, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“The Dajjal will appear among my Ummah and he will remain for forty. I do not remember whether the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said forty days, or forty years, or forty months, or forty nights.”Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“After that, Allah the Exalted will send Isa ibn Maryam (peace be upon him), whose appearance will resemble Urwah bin Mas’ud al-Thaqafi. He will come and kill the Dajjal. After that, the Muslims will spend seven years in such a way that there will be no enmity between any two Muslims. Then Allah the Exalted will send a cool wind from the direction of Syria, and every person who has even a mustard seed’s weight of faith in his heart will die because of that wind, to the extent that if a believing Muslim is inside the mountains, that wind will reach him there as well.”He said:“I heard all this from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) myself. After that, the most wicked and evil people will remain, whose behavior and intellect will be like that of birds and wild beasts, who will not distinguish between good and evil. Satan will appear to them in human form and say to them: ‘Why do you not obey me?’ Then he will command them to worship idols, so they will begin to worship idols. In those days, they will have abundant sustenance and a prosperous life. After that, the Trumpet will be blown, and its terror and effect will be such that whoever hears its sound will fall down right there. The first person to hear its sound will be a man repairing his water trough, and he will fall down right there, and then all the people will fall down. After that, Allah the Exalted will send down abundant rain, and by its effect, people’s bodies will grow. Then the Trumpet will be blown again, and people will stand up looking around. Then it will be said to the people: ‘Come to your Lord,’ and it will be said to the angels: {وَقِفُوْھُمْ اِنَّہُمْ مَسْئُوْلُوْنَ} (Surah as-Saffat: 24) (And stop them, for they must be questioned). Then it will be said: ‘Set aside the portion for Hell.’ It will be asked: ‘How much is it?’ It will be said in reply: ‘Out of every thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine.’ At that time, there will be such terror that young children will become old, and on that day the veil will be lifted from (Allah’s) shin.”Muhammad bin Ja’far says:“Shu’bah narrated this hadith to me several times, and I also recited it before him.”

It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to me while I was crying. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Why are you crying? What is the matter? I said: O Messenger of Allah! I am crying because I remembered the tribulation of Dajjal. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If Dajjal appears during my lifetime, I will be sufficient to confront him on your behalf, and if he appears after me, then Allah Almighty will protect you. And remember, your Lord is not one-eyed. He will appear among the Jews of Isfahan and will come towards Madinah Munawwarah and descend at one of its edges. In those days, Madinah Munawwarah will have seven gates, and at each gate, two angels will be appointed for its protection. The worst people of Madinah Munawwarah will go out and join him. Then he will go to the city of Palestine in Sham, near the Bab Lud gate. Meanwhile, Isa (peace be upon him) will descend from the heavens and kill him. After that, Isa (peace be upon him) will spend forty years on earth as a just and righteous ruler.
