Virtues of the Qur'an
Hadith Number: 121
Saeed bin Jubair (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Buy copies of the Qur'an, but do not sell them.

حدثنا سعيد، قال: اخبرنا هشيم , قال: اخبرنا خالد ، عن ابن سيرين ، عن عبيدة السلماني ،" انه كان يكره بيع المصاحف واشتراءها" .
It is narrated from Ibn Sirin (may Allah have mercy on him) that Ubaidah al-Salmani (may Allah have mercy on him) disliked the buying and selling of copies of the Qur'an.

Hadith Number: 124
حدثنا سعيد، قال: اخبرنا حدثنا سعيد، قال: اخبرنا إسماعيل بن زكريا ، عن ليث بن ابي سليم ، عن سالم بن عبد الله ، قال: قال ابن عمر : " لوددت ان الايدي قطعت في بيع المصاحف" .
It is narrated from Salim bin Abdullah (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: I wish that the hands of those who buy and sell copies of the Qur'an would be cut off.

Hadith Number: 125
حدثنا سعيد، قال: اخبرنا مهدي بن ميمون ، قال: سالت محمد بن سيرين عن كتاب المعلم؟، فقال:" كان معلم بالمدينة، وكان عنده اولاد اولئك الضخام، وكان مملوكا، وكان مواليه يكلفونه الشيء، فيقول الغلمان: دعنا نكفيك، فيابى عليهم" .
It is narrated from Muhammad bin Sirin (may Allah have mercy on him) that I asked about the writing of a teacher, so he said: There was a teacher in Madinah, the children of prominent people used to study with him, he was a slave, his masters would demand some work from him, so the children would say: Let us do it, but he would prevent them from doing so.

Hadith Number: 126
حدثنا سعيد، قال: اخبرنا حدثنا سعيد، قال: اخبرنا حديج بن معاوية ، قال: اخبرنا ابو إسحاق ، عن عبد الله بن حبيب ، عن ابن مسعود ، قال: " انزل المفصل بمكة، فمكثنا حججا نقرؤه، لا ينزل غيره" .
It is narrated from Abdullah bin Habib (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Mufassal surahs were revealed in Makkah, then we continued to recite them for several years and no other revelation was sent down.

Hadith Number: 127
حدثنا سعيد، قال: اخبرنا حدثنا سعيد، قال: اخبرنا حديج بن معاوية ، عن ابي إسحاق ، قال: قال عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه: " لا يغرنكم من قرا القرآن، إنما هو كلام يتكلم به، ولكن انظروا إلى من يعمل به" .
Abu Ishaq (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Let no one deceive you because he recites the Qur'an; these are merely words uttered by the tongue, but see whether he acts upon it or not.

Hadith Number: 128
حدثنا سعيد، قال: اخبرنا مروان بن معاوية ، قال: اخبرنا ابو مالك الاشجعي ، عن عبد الرحمن بن نوفل الاشجعي ، عن ابيه ، قال: قلت: يا رسول الله، إني حديث عهد بشرك، فمرني بامر يبرئني من الشرك، قال:" اقرا: قل يا ايها الكافرون"، فما اخطاها ابي من يوم ولا ليلة، حتى فارق الدنيا .
Abdur Rahman bin Nawfal Al-Ashja'i (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father that a man said: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! I have newly embraced Islam, tell me of a deed that will completely purify me from shirk. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Recite Surah «قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ» . The narrator says that from that day until his death, there was not a single day or night when his father did not recite this Surah.

Hadith Number: 129
حدثنا سعيد، قال: اخبرنا ابو الاحوص ، عن ابي الحسن التيمي ، قال: سمعت رجلا ، يقول: كنت اسير مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في ليلة ظلماء، فسمع قارئا يقرا: قل يا ايها الكافرون، فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم:" اما هذا فقد برئ من الشرك"، وسرنا، فسمع رجلا يقرا: قل هو الله احد، فقال:" اما هذا فقد غفر له"، فكففت راحلتي لانظر من هو فابشره، فنظرت يمينا وشمالا، فما رايت احدا .
Abu Al-Hasan Al-Taymi, may Allah have mercy on him, reports from a man: I was traveling with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, on a dark night when someone was heard reciting Surah «قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ» , so the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: This person has been absolved of shirk. Then we moved on and heard someone else reciting Surah «قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ» , so he, peace and blessings be upon him, said: This person has been forgiven. I wanted to stop my mount to see to whom I could give this glad tidings, but when I looked to the right and left, I saw no one.

Hadith Number: 130
حدثنا سعيد، قال: اخبرنا الوليد بن مسلم ، عن الاوزاعي ، عن إسماعيل بن عبيد الله ، عن مولى لفضالة بن عبيد ، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " لله اشد اذنا إلى الرجل الحسن الصوت بالقرآن من صاحب القينة إلى قينته" .
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty is more eager to listen to the recitation of the Qur'an by a person with a beautiful voice than a singer is to listen to the voice of his singing companion.
