كِتَابُ التَّفْسِيرِ
Book of Tafsir (Quranic Exegesis)
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {فَكَفَّارَتُهُ إِطْعَامُ عَشَرَةِ مَسَاكِينَ مِنْ أَوْسَطِ مَا تُطْعِمُونَ أَهْلِيكُمْ أَوْ كِسْوَتُهُمْ أَوْ تَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ فَمَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ فَصِيَامُ ثَلاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ ذَلِكَ كَفَّارَةُ أَيْمَانِكُمْ إِذَا حَلَفْتُمْ وَاحْفَظُوا أَيْمَانَكُمْ} .
His (Allah's) saying: {But its expiation is the feeding of ten needy people from the average of that which you feed your [own] families or clothing them or the freeing of a slave. But whoever cannot find [or afford it]—then a fast of three days [is required]. That is the expiation for oaths when you have sworn. But guard your oaths}
Hadith Number: 795
نا نا يحيى بن زكريا بن ابي زائدة، عن حجاج بن ارطاة، عن حصين الحارثي، عن الشعبي، عن الحارث، عن علي رضي الله عنه انه , قال في كفارة اليمين:" يغديهم، ويعشيهم خبزا ولحما، خبزا وزيتا، خبزا وسمنا" .
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: In the expiation of an oath, ten needy people should be fed bread along with meat or oil or clarified butter, and that food should be given both during the day and at night.

Hadith Number: 796
نا هشيم , قال: نا يونس بن عبيد , قال: حدثت، عن إبراهيم، انه كان يقول: " يغديهم ويعشيهم" , وكان الحسن , يقول:" وجبة واحدة تجزئ" .
Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) said: In the expiation of an oath, food should be given both in the morning and evening. Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Food for one time is also sufficient.

Hadith Number: 797
نا إسماعيل بن إبراهيم , قال: نا يونس، عن الحسن , انه كان يقول في طعام المساكين: " وجبة، فإن اعطاهم في ايديهم فمكوك بر، ومكوك تمر" .
Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) said: For feeding the needy, one meal is sufficient; if it is given into their hands, then one makkook of wheat and one makkook of dates should be given.

Hadith Number: 798
نا ابو عوانة، عن سليمان بن ابي المغيرة، عن سعيد بن جبير , في قوله عز وجل: من اوسط ما تطعمون اهليكم سورة المائدة آية 89 , قال: " كان يكون للكبير افضل من الصغير، وللحر افضل من المملوك، فامروا بوسط من ذلك ليس بارفعه ولا باوضعه" .
Saeed bin Jubair (may Allah have mercy on him) said in the explanation of ﴿مِنْ أَوْسَطِ مَا تُطْعِمُونَ أَهْلِيكُمْ﴾: The food for the elder used to be better than that for the younger, and for the free person better than for the slave, so Allah the Exalted commanded the middle standard, which is neither the highest nor the lowest.

Hadith Number: 799
نا نا إسماعيل بن إبراهيم , قال: نا سلمة بن علقمة، عن محمد بن سيرين، ان ابا موسى الاشعري ، " حلف على يمين فكفر، فامر المساكين، فادخلوا بيت المال، فامر بجفنة من ثريد فقدمت إليهم، فاكلوا، ثم كسا كل إنسان منهم ثوبا إما معقدا، وإما ظهرانيا" .
Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) took an oath, then he offered its expiation. Thus, the needy were brought into the treasury, and a large tray filled with tharid was presented before them. They ate, then each one was given a garment, which was either double-layered or sewn on one side.

Hadith Number: 800
نا هشيم , قال: نا داود بن ابي هند، عن سعيد بن المسيب , قال: سمعته وسئل عن قول الله عز وجل: او كسوتهم سورة المائدة آية 89 , في كفارة اليمين , قال: " لكل مسكين عباءة وعمامة" ,
It was asked from Sa'id bin Al-Musayyib (may Allah have mercy on him) about the noble verse: "or their clothing" regarding the expiation of an oath, so he said: Each needy person should be given a cloak and a turban.

نا خالد، عن داود بن ابي هند، عن سعيد بن المسيب , مثله.
A narration similar to this is also reported from Sa'id bin al-Musayyib (may Allah have mercy on him) through another chain.

Hadith Number: 802
نا هشيم , قال: نا مغيرة، عن إبراهيم , قال: " ثوبا ثوبا، لكل مسكين ثوب جامع" .
Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) said regarding the noble verse ﴿أَوْ كِسْوَتُهُمْ﴾: Every needy person should be given a complete garment.

Hadith Number: 803
نا عتاب بن بشير , قال: نا خصيف، عن عطاء، ومجاهد، وعكرمة , قالوا: " لكل مسكين ثوب قميص، او إزار، او رداء" , فقلت لخصيف: ارايت إن كان موسرا؟ , قال:" اي ذلك فعل فحسن، فمن لم يجد من هذه الخصال، فصيام ثلاثة ايام , وذكر انها في قراءة ابي: متتابعة" .
Ata (may Allah have mercy on him), Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him), and Ikrimah (may Allah have mercy on him) said regarding the noble verse ﴿أَوْ كِسْوَتُهُمْ﴾: Each needy person should be given one garment, whether it is a shirt, a lower garment, or a cloak. I asked Khaseef (may Allah have mercy on him): What if the giver is wealthy? He said: Whichever of these he gives, it is better. And whoever does not find any of these things should fast for three days, and it was mentioned that in the recitation of Ubayy, the word «مُتَتَابِعَةٌ» is present.

Hadith Number: 804
نا حماد بن زيد، عن ابن عون، عن إبراهيم , قال: " في قراءتنا في كفارة اليمين: ثلاثة ايام متتابعات" .
Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) said: In our recitation regarding the expiation of an oath, it is: "three consecutive days."
