Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Allah the Exalted said:O Prophet! Urge the believers to fight. If there are twenty steadfast among you, they will overcome two hundred(__QUR_N__). In this, it was decreed that twenty Muslims should not turn their backs to two hundred. Then Allah the Exalted granted relief and said:Now Allah has lightened [the burden] for you and He knows that there is weakness among you(__QUR_N__). Now, it is not appropriate for one hundred Muslims to flee from two hundred.

Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: If a person flees from two enemies, then he is considered a deserter, but if he flees from three enemies, then he is not considered a deserter.
