كِتَابُ الطَّلَاقِ
Book of Divorce
بَابُ مَنْ قَالَ لِامْرَأَتِهِ: اعْتَدِّي
Chapter: One who says to his wife, "Observe your waiting period"
Hadith Number: 1234
نا ابو عوانة، عن منصور، عن إبراهيم، قال: " كان يقال: إذا قال: اعتدي فهو تطليقة" .
Ibrahim Nakha'i (may Allah have mercy on him) said: If a husband says to his wife, "Observe the 'iddah," then this counts as one divorce.

Hadith Number: 1235
نا هشيم، قال: انا يونس، عن الحسن، وعبيدة، عن إبراهيم، انهما قالا: " إذا قال الرجل لامراته: اعتدي وهو ينوي الطلاق , قالا: واحدة، وهو احق بها، وإن لم ينو طلاقا فليس بشيء" .
Hasan al-Basri and Ubaidah, may Allah have mercy on them, said: If the husband intends divorce, then it is one divorce, and if there is no intention, then it is nothing.

Hadith Number: 1236
نا هشيم، قال: انا ابو حرة، عن الحسن، انه قال: " إذا قال الرجل لامراته: انت طالق اعتدي، فهي واحدة، وإذا قال: انت طالق واعتدي، فهما اثنتان" .
Hasan al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) said: If a husband says, "You are divorced, observe the waiting period (‘iddah)," then this is one divorce. And if he says, "You are divorced and observe the waiting period," then this is two divorces.

Hadith Number: 1237
نا إسماعيل بن عياش، عن ابي بكر بن ابي مريم، عن مكحول، قال: " إذا قال لامراته: اعتدي او عدي اجلك، فإنها تطليقة , وهو املك بها" .
Hazrat Mak'hool (may Allah have mercy on him) said: If the husband says, "Observe the waiting period (iddah)" or "Count your time," then this is one divorce and the husband has the right to take her back.

قال فضيل: عن منصور، عن إبراهيم , " إذا قال الرجل: اعتدي، فهو تطليقة" .

نا خالد بن عبد الله، عن يونس، عن الحسن , في رجل قال لامراته: اعتدي، قال:" هي تطليقة، وهو احق بها" .
Hasan al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) said: If a husband says, "Observe the 'iddah," then this counts as one divorce, and the husband has the right to take her back.
