The finger of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was injured in a battle or expedition, so he (peace be upon him) said: "You are but an injured finger; whatever you have endured in the way of Allah is for Allah."

In another narration, the same words are reported from Sayyiduna Jundub Bajali (may Allah be pleased with him).

Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) used to wash the wound of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) would pour water over it. When the water caused the blood to flow even more, Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) burned a piece of mat and applied it to the wound, which stopped the bleeding. On that day, a tooth of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was also martyred and his helmet (head covering) was broken.

In another narration from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him), the same incident is mentioned, but the words are that the edge of his own garment tore.

Lady Aisha and Umm Ishaq bint Talha (may Allah be pleased with them) said: Our father (Talha bin Ubaidullah, may Allah be pleased with him) received twenty-four wounds in the Battle of Uhud, among which was a square-shaped wound on his head, his vein was cut due to which one of his fingers became paralyzed. He also saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wounded and unconscious, so our master Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) took the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) backwards, retreating towards the mountain pass.

Sayyiduna Qais bin Abi Hazim رضي الله عنه said: I saw the hand of Sayyiduna Talhah bin Ubaidullah رضي الله عنه which had become paralyzed, with which he had protected the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم.

Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) brought his sword stained with blood on the day of the Battle of Uhud, while Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) was washing the blood from the blessed face of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Sayyiduna Ali said: "Take it with praise." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you have shown excellence in fighting today, then Sahl bin Hunaif, Asim bin Thabit, Harith bin Sammah, and Abu Dujanah have also fought excellently."

Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) protected the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) with his hand, due to which his finger was injured. Talha, out of pain, said "Huss." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If he had said 'Bismillah,' people would have seen him entering Paradise."
