Book of Righteousness and Goodness
باب الصدق والأمر بالمعروف والنهي عن المنكر - ذكر إعطاء الله جل وعلا الآمر بالمعروف ثواب العامل به من غير أن ينقص من أجره شيء-
Chapter: Truthfulness, Commanding Good, and Forbidding Evil – Allah grants the reward of the doer to the one who commands good, without reducing the doer’s reward
Hadith Number: 289
اخبرنا محمد بن عمر بن يوسف ، قال: حدثنا بشر بن خالد العسكري ، قال: حدثنا محمد بن جعفر ، قال: حدثنا شعبة ، عن سليمان ، قال: سمعت ابا عمرو الشيباني ، عن ابي مسعود ، قال: اتى رجل النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فساله، فقال:" ما عندي ما اعطيك، لكن ائت فلانا"، قال: فاتى الرجل، فاعطاه، فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " من دل على خير فله مثل اجر فاعله او عامله" .
Sayyiduna Abu Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He asked you for help, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“I do not have anything that I can give you, go to such-and-such person.”(The narrator says) He went to that person and he gave him a gift. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Whoever guides towards goodness, then for him is a reward like that of the one who acts upon it (the narrator is in doubt, perhaps these are the words) like the one who acts upon it.”
