باب ما جاء في الطاعات وثوابها - ذكر البيان بأن الأعمال التي يعملها من ليس بمسلم وإن كانت أعمالا صالحة لا تنفع في العقبى من عملها في الدنيا
Chapter on Acts of Obedience and Their Rewards – Good deeds by non-Muslims do not benefit them in the Hereafter.
Hadith Number: 330
اخبرنا الحسن بن سفيان ، قال: حدثنا القواريري ، قال: حدثنا عبد الواحد بن زياد ، قال: حدثنا الاعمش ، عن ابي سفيان ، عن عبيد بن عمير ، عن عائشة ، قالت: قلت لرسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: إن ابن جدعان في الجاهلية كان يقري الضيف، ويحسن الجوار، ويصل الرحم، فهل ينفعه ذلك؟ قال:" لا، إنه لم يقل يوما قط: اللهم اغفر لي خطيئتي يوم الدين" .
Lady Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: I submitted to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): Ibn Jud'an, in the time of ignorance, used to show hospitality to guests, treat neighbors well, and maintain ties of kinship. Will he benefit (from these good deeds) in any way? The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: No! Because he never said: O Allah! Forgive my sins on the Day of Resurrection.
