Chapter on Acts of Obedience and Their Rewards – A disbeliever’s good deeds in this world do not benefit him in the Hereafter.
Hadith Number: 331
اخبرنا الحسن بن سفيان ، قال: حدثنا ابو بكر بن ابي شيبة ، قال: حدثنا حفص بن غياث ، عن داود بن ابي هند ، عن الشعبي ، عن مسروق ، عن عائشة ، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم انها سالته عن قوله: يوم تبدل الارض غير الارض والسموات، وبرزوا لله الواحد القهار سورة إبراهيم آية 48 فاين يكون الناس يومئذ؟ فقال:" على الصراط"، قالت: قلت: يا رسول الله ابن جدعان كان في الجاهلية يصل الرحم، ويطعم المسكين، فهل ذاك نافعه؟ قال:" لا ينفعه لم يقل يوما: رب اغفر لي خطيئتي يوم الدين" .
Lady Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates regarding the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), that she asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) about the statement of Allah Almighty: "When the earth is changed to another earth, and the heavens as well, then all will submit themselves to Allah, the One, the Irresistible." So where will the people be at that time? The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) replied: They will be on the Bridge of Sirat. Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) states: I asked: O Messenger of Allah! Ibn Jud'an used to maintain ties of kinship and feed people during the time of ignorance, will this benefit him? The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: No, it will not benefit him, because he never said: O my Lord! Forgive my sins.
