Chapter on Acts of Obedience and Their Rewards – Warning against being deceived by the virtues narrated about acts of obedience.
Hadith Number: 360
اخبرنا عبد الله بن محمد بن سلم ، قال: حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن إبراهيم ، قال: حدثنا الوليد ، قال: حدثنا الاوزاعي ، قال: حدثني يحيى بن ابي كثير ، قال: حدثني محمد بن إبراهيم التيمي ، قال: حدثني شقيق بن سلمة ، قال: حدثني حمران مولى عثمان، قال: رايت عثمان قاعدا في المقاعد، فدعا بوضوء فتوضا، ثم، قال: رايت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، في مقعدي هذا، توضا مثل وضوئي هذا، ثم، قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " من توضا مثل وضوئي هذا غفر له ما تقدم من ذنبه" ثم قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم:" ولا تغتروا" .
Humran reports: I saw Sayyiduna Uthman Ghani (may Allah be pleased with him) sitting in the sitting places. He called for water for ablution and performed ablution. Then he stated: I saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) at this very place, and he performed ablution just as I have performed. Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever performs ablution like this of mine, his past sins will be forgiven." Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Do not fall into misunderstanding."
