Chapter on Poverty, Asceticism, and Contentment – On the command to look at those below you in wealth and character, not those above you
Hadith Number: 712
اخبرنا محمد بن الحسن بن قتيبة ، قال: حدثنا ابن ابي السري ، قال: حدثنا عبد الرزاق ، قال: اخبرنا معمر ، عن همام بن منبه ، عن ابي هريرة ، قال: وقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " إذا نظر احدكم إلى من فضل عليه في المال والخلق، فلينظر إلى من هو اسفل منه ممن فضل هو عليه" .
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a person looks at someone who has been given superiority over him in wealth and creation, he should also look at someone who is below him, over whom he has been given superiority."
