Chapter on Poverty, Asceticism, and Contentment – On the warning against looking at those above you in worldly matters
Hadith Number: 713
اخبرنا ابو خليفة ، قال: حدثنا مسدد ، قال: حدثنا ابو معاوية ، عن الاعمش ، عن ابي صالح ، عن ابي هريرة ، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " لا تنظروا إلى من هو فوقكم، وانظروا إلى من هو اسفل منكم، فإنه اجدر ان لا تردوا نعمة الله" .
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Do not look at those who are above you, rather look at those who are below you, for this is more appropriate so that you do not deny the blessings of Allah (i.e., you do not consider them insignificant)."
