Chapter on Skins of Dead Animals – Permission to benefit from the skins of animals that are lawful to eat if tanned
Hadith Number: 1284
اخبرنا ابن قتيبة ، قال: حدثنا حرملة بن يحيى ، قال: اخبرنا ابن وهب ، قال: حدثنا يونس ، عن ابن شهاب ، قال: حدثني عبيد الله بن عبد الله ، عن ابن عباس ، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وجد شاة ميتة اعطيتها مولاة لميمونة من الصدقة، قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " هلا انتفعتم بجلدها؟ قالوا: إنها ميتة!، قال: إنما حرم اكلها" .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) found a dead goat that had been given in charity to the slave woman of Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her). The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Why do you not benefit from its skin? The people said: It is dead. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: It has been made unlawful to eat it.
