باب المساجد - ذكر العلة التي من أجلها زجر عن هذا الفعل
Chapter on Mosques - The reason for this prohibition.
Hadith Number: 1614
اخبرنا ابو يعلى ، قال: حدثنا عبد الله بن معاوية الجمحي ، قال: حدثنا حماد بن سلمة ، عن ايوب ، عن ابي قلابة ، عن انس ، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " لا تقوم الساعة حتى يتباهى الناس في المساجد" .
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The Hour will not be established until people boast to one another regarding the construction of mosques."

اخبرنا عبد الله بن قحطبة ، قال: حدثنا محمد بن الصباح ، قال: حدثنا سفيان بن عيينة ، عن سفيان الثوري ، عن ابي فزارة ، عن يزيد بن الاصم ، عن ابن عباس ، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " ما امرت بتشييد المساجد" ، قال ابن عباس: لتزخرفنها كما زخرفتها اليهود، والنصارى، ابو فزارة راشد بن كيسان من ثقات الكوفيين واثباتهم.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have not been commanded to adorn the mosques." Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "You people will adorn these mosques just as the Jews and Christians adorned (their places of worship)." The narrator Abu Fazarah is Rashid bin Kaysan, and he is among the trustworthy and reliable narrators from Kufa.
