Chapter on the Manner of Prayer – On the number of times one says“Allahu Akbar”in prayer
Hadith Number: 1765
اخبرنا الحسن بن سفيان ، قال: حدثنا محمد بن خلاد الباهلي ، قال: حدثنا معاذ بن هشام ، قال: حدثنا ابي ، عن قتادة ، عن عكرمة ، قال: قلت لابن عباس :" عجبت من شيخ صلى بنا الظهر فكبر ثنتين وعشرين تكبيرة؟ قال: تلك سنة ابي القاسم صلى الله عليه وسلم" .
Ikrimah narrates: I said to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him): I am astonished at an elderly man who, while leading us in the Zuhr prayer, said twenty-two takbirs. So Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas said: It is the Sunnah of Sayyiduna Abul Qasim (peace and blessings be upon him).
