Chapter on the Manner of Prayer – Report refuting the instruction to recite Al-Fatiha in Persian for those unable to recite it in Arabic
Hadith Number: 1810
اخبرنا الحسين بن إسحاق الاصفهاني بالكرخ، قال: حدثنا ابو امية ، قال: حدثنا الفضل بن موفق ، قال: حدثنا مالك بن مغول ، عن طلحة بن مصرف ، عن ابن ابي اوفى ، قال: جاء رجل إلى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقال: يا رسول الله، إني لا استطيع ان اتعلم القرآن، فعلمني ما يجزئني من القرآن. قال: " قل: سبحان الله، والحمد لله، ولا إله إلا الله، والله اكبر، ولا حول ولا قوة إلا بالله". قال: هذا لله، فما لي؟ قال:" قل: رب اغفر لي، وارحمني، واهدني، وعافني، وارزقني". فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم:" لقد ملا يديه خيرا" .
Sayyiduna Ibn Abu Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a man came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I do not have the ability to learn the Qur'an. Teach me something that will suffice in place of the Qur'an. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Recite this. «سبحان الله والحمدلله والله أكبر ولا حول ولا قوة الا بالله» The man said: This is for Allah. What is there for me? The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Recite this: "O my Lord, forgive me, have mercy on me, guide me, grant me well-being, and provide for me." The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: This man has filled both his hands with goodness.
