Chapter on the Manner of Prayer – Reason for the Prophet’s recitation length in Dhuhr and Asr
Hadith Number: 1826
اخبرنا ابو خليفة ، قال: حدثنا مسدد بن مسرهد ، قال: حدثنا عبد الواحد بن زياد ، قال: حدثنا الاعمش ، عن عمارة بن عمير ، عن ابي معمر ، قال: قلنا لخباب : هل كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقرا في الظهر والعصر؟ قال:" نعم". قلنا: بم كنتم تعرفون ذلك؟ قال:" باضطراب لحيته" .
Abu Ma'mar narrates: We asked Sayyiduna Khabbab (may Allah be pleased with him): Did the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) recite (Qur'an) in the Zuhr and Asr prayers? He replied: Yes. We asked: How did you come to know this? He replied: Because of the movement of the Prophet's (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) beard.
