Chapter on the Manner of Prayer – Prohibition of the follower raising his voice in recitation behind the imam
Hadith Number: 1843
اخبرنا ابن قتيبة ، قال: حدثنا يزيد بن هارون ، قال: حدثني الليث ، عن ابن شهاب ، عن ابن اكيمة ، عن ابي هريرة ،، انه قال: صلى لنا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم صلاة، فجهر فيها، فلما انصرف، استقبل الناس، فقال:" هل قرا آنفا منكم احد؟". قالوا: نعم يا رسول الله. فقال: " لاقول ما لي انازع القرآن؟!" .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led us in prayer. He recited aloud in it. When he completed the prayer, he turned towards the people and said: Has anyone among you recited (during the prayer)? The people replied: Yes, O Messenger of Allah! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I was also wondering what was the reason that (in the recitation of) the Qur'an, there was an obstruction for me.
