Chapter on the Manner of Prayer – Report refuting the claim that Qatadah did not hear this narration from Zurara ibn Awfa
Hadith Number: 1847
اخبرنا عمر بن محمد الهمداني ، قال: حدثنا محمد بن بشار ، قال: حدثنا محمد ، قال: حدثنا شعبة ، عن قتادة ، قال: سمعت زرارة بن اوفى يحدث، عن عمران بن حصين ، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، صلى الظهر، فجعل رجل يقرا خلفه ب: سبح اسم ربك الاعلى، فلما انصرف، قال:" ايكم الذي قرا؟ او ايكم القارئ؟". فقال رجل: انا يا رسول الله. فقال:" قد عرفت ان بعضكم خالجنيها" .
Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the Zuhr prayer, and a person behind him began reciting Surah Al-A'la. When the Prophet finished the prayer, he inquired: Who among you was reciting? Or perhaps he said: Who among you is the reciter? A person replied: It was me, O Messenger of Allah! The Prophet said: I had realized that one of you was creating an obstacle for me.
